Ashes to ashes; feathers to feathers

A few days ago one of the newly-arrived cassin's finches crashed into my window and broke its neck.  I moved the carcass from near the house to the base of a tree along the drive, thinking some nocturnal critter would be happy to "recycle" it.

Instead, one of its diurnal cousins showed up.
Common Raven.

Check out the schnoz on this guy.

Large bird, small bird.

This grim, ungainly, gaunt, and ominous bird of yore.

Nevermore.

  1. Wow, amazing photos. Although a bit disturbing what a great shot of nature in action.
