It was 24 below this morning, but it's a sunny plus 2 now.
The river is mostly frozen, with only a few holes here and there. The ever-present roar of the river is reduced to a few small trickles. The silence is deafening.
The ice is quite thick in places. A neighbor told me it will get thick enough to walk on. It appears there will always be thinner spots, though. Good thing the river isn't deep.
I wish I would have had my camera this morning. I could have sent you pictures of the frozen ditch water along the side of the road. It's 24 degrees here. Not as beautiful as your river pictures...but it's frozen water! (My kids would call it worm water...that's what you find in ditches!)
