Early, inchoate, incipient, pre-spring

Progress on the snow melt.

First ground squirrel of the year.  Scrawny after almost nine months of hibernation.

Impersonating Bigfoot.
(As Mitch Hedberg said, "I think Bigfoot is just blurry, which is extra scary because there's a large out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside.")

Then it started snowing again.  Not cold enough to stick for long, but snowy enough to piss you off.

  1. On the positive side, following up on our blog discussion yesterday, remember you don't want it all to melt at once!

  2. P.s. Not sure why, but I really like the word "inchoate." It seems strong and interesting.

  3. That baby needs some food. Did the other varmints leave any extra seeds? Next winter I'm going to invoke the no eating hibernation theory as well.

  4. "Inchoate" still reminds me of criminal law, but it does seem criminal to me that La Nina has made this such a cold, wet spring up here. On the other hand, I understand parts of Texas will be in the 90s today, with hazardous fire weather. No trade.

  5. As for seeds, those red squirrels (the tree squirrels) are pretty greedy.
