Winter in the Big Hole

Wisdom, Montana, 6,050 ft.  On this clear, sunny day the temperature was 11-below.

Bald eagle.

Apparently nobody in the Big Hole has snow tires.  Either they putter along at 20 mph or they sit and wait for the tow truck.

The frozen Big Hole River.

Horses digging through the snow to find grass.

On the return trip a week later . . .

A gray, snowy day.  The sun hides in the southern sky (this was around noon).

Elk.

Baldy.
