The deer have begun to cross the frozen river

This one found thin ice and decided to take a detour.

Slippage, coming off the bank.

  1. Garrison Keilor (sp?) attributed ice on lakes as a reason for northern folks being smarter. Said it was an opportunity (one that doesn't occur here down south) for natural selection to take place. The unfit of the species are found at the bottom of the lakes with their hands to their foreheads in a "Doh!" position.

  2. Makes sense to me. Luckily my river is pretty shallow, so Charles Darwin can't get me.

  3. Ya know Cliff, the only time in my life I haven't had a head injury was when I was wearing a Kevlar. Maybe I should just wear one all the time like one of the special children. Maybe I am a special child!

Sounds like you are having a great time this winter. I've been seeing a lot of bunny tracks here. I didn't even realize we had that many rabbits.

  4. Oh yes, I forgot. I will make those caramel swirl cookies next week. I make a couple batches of cookies for my husband to take to work every week. There's never a shortage of cookies around here.

  5. Woo Hoo! I've never tried to make cookies in my life, but I might take a shot at those.

  6. With 21 days of uninterrupted bliss, your options are endless!

I will send pictures of me and the girls wearing shorts and the obligatory fur-lined parkas in Dallas.

  7. Should we worry that we haven't heard from Cliff since he started his experiment in Natural Selection by ice walking?!

  8. Good one, BMac. No worries. There have been no D'oh! moments on the ice, so far. I've just been out of town until now. Need to get the blog back up and running.
