Donde esta? Mexican Food in Montana

As you might imagine, it's hard to find Mexican food in Montana. To tell the truth, it's hard to find a Mexican in Montana.

Since the options in the Bitterroot Valley are limited, when Mari and I were in Missoula last week, we ate lunch at a place that advertised great authentic Mexican food. We quickly discovered that we needed to manage our expectations when we tried the salsa, which tasted like watered-down ketchup with a few pieces of chopped onion thrown in. I suspect that the entrees were microwaved Old El Paso dinners.

Tonight, as perhaps our last hope, we are going to try a little roadside eatery south of the border--the Idaho border.  In the tiny town of Gibbonsville, Idaho, about 25 miles south of Sula, there is a small family-run restaurant called the Broken Arrow.  We've heard they serve good Mexican food, but we have come to understand that "good" with regard to anything other than meat and potatoes can still be a risky venture.
